Dr. Maria-Rebecca Legat

Lawyer

Lecturer for emergency response and disaster management law
At the firm, I help our clients in the areas of general civil law as well as private building law and real estate law, with a particular focus on the law regarding architects’ fees. Another focus of my professional work is public liability law and emergency response and disaster management law.

Due to my specific background and experience, I also serve as an external lawyer acting as ombudsperson, assuming the role of an internal reporting office for companies, public bodies, and associations — particularly in accordance with the German Whistleblower Protection Act. For reports concerning Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V., you can reach me, among other means, at ombudsperson-juh@tavanti-redeker.com.

As a lawyer, I’m fascinated by the diversity of cases I have worked on and the way in which they reflect people’s reality. We provide more than just legal counsel at the firm; we also encounter linguistic, psychological and ethical aspects in our everyday work, which I feel is very important in my line of work.

I would be more than happy to provide you with legal counsel in French (my native language) as well.

Fun fact: did you know that the original authors of the German Civil Code only mentioned one animal by name and that they devoted a relatively large number of paragraphs covering the rights of bee swarms? I happen to be an amateur beekeeper, and if you have any questions regarding the rights of bees, feel free to contact me!
